Within Minutes
Right Around the Corner
Shell Park sits in South Kundal, a quiet residential pocket just off the main Kanyakumari road — close enough to the town's landmarks that most of them are a five to ten minute auto-rickshaw ride away, and a couple are walkable.
Vivekananda Rock Memorial
A short ferry ride from the mainland takes you to the rock where Swami Vivekananda is said to have meditated in 1892. The memorial has two main structures — Vivekananda Mandapam and Shripada Mandapam — plus a meditation hall.
Thiruvalluvar Statue
A 133-foot statue of the Tamil poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar stands on a neighbouring rock island — one foot for each chapter of his classic work, the Thirukkural.
Kanyakumari Beach & Sunrise Point
The only place in mainland India where you can watch the sun both rise and set over the sea. This is where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean visibly meet.
Bhagavathy Amman Temple
An ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Kanniyakumari Amman, after whom the town is named — right by the shore at the southern tip.
Sunset Viewpoint
A separate vantage point closer to the harbour side, best visited in the evening for uninterrupted views as the sun drops into the Arabian Sea.
Tsunami Memorial
A quiet monument near the shore honouring those lost in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami — right in our own neighbourhood, and a peaceful spot for an early morning walk.
